To ensure your new RetroTouch sockets and switches are compatible with your installation, please follow the checklist before placing your order.

Light Switch Compatibility Checklist

1. What type of switch are you replacing?

2. How many gangs do you need?

(A gang controls one lighting circuit.)

3. Is your lighting circuit one-way or two-way?

Examples:

  • One-way = light controlled from one location.
  • Two-way = light controlled from two locations (top and bottom of stairs).
  • Intermediate = light controlled from three or more locations.

4. Are you using LED lighting?

RetroTouch touch switches are compatible with LED lighting; however, not all dimmable LED lamps perform identically. Lamp compatibility can vary between manufacturers. (Retro Touch)

5. Do you require dimming?

Check that:

☐ Your lamps are dimmable.

☐ Total load is within the dimmer's rated capacity.

Non-dimmable lamps cannot be used with dimmer switches.

6. Do you have a Neutral Wire at the Switch Position?

Required for some smart and dimming products.

Important:

  • Many UK homes do not have a neutral wire at the switch position.
  • Certain RetroTouch Wi-Fi switches can operate with or without a neutral depending on the model.

7. What Back Box Depth Do You Have?

Remove the faceplate and measure the metal or plastic back box.
