How to Setup Automatic Room EQ Mode

How to Setup Automatic Room EQ Mode

Setting up Auto Room EQ

Auto Room EQ is designed to optimise your speaker system based on the unique acoustic properties of your room. It automatically adjusts the frequency response for improved clarity, balance, and overall audio performance.

โš ๏ธ IMPORTANT NOTE

Before running Auto Room EQ, make sure all your speakers are installed in their correct final positions.
This process should only be carried out after speaker installation is complete, as it is the final stage of setup. Calibration results depend on speaker placement.

Step-by-Step Setup Instructions with Explanations

๐Ÿ”น 1. Select the Speaker to Optimise

How:
Open the Lithe Audio Cinema app and navigate to the Room EQ section. Tap on the speaker youโ€™d like to calibrate:
  • Front

  • Center

  • Surround

  • Height

๐Ÿ“Œ Why this matters:
Each speaker plays a different role and is positioned differently. Calibrating each one ensures sound is balanced across your setup, with clear dialogue, consistent bass, and immersive surround effects.

๐Ÿ”น 2. Set the Lower Roll-off Frequency to 50Hz

How:
Use the + and โ€“ buttons to set the Lower roll-off frequency to 50 Hz.

๐Ÿ“Œ Why this matters:
The roll-off frequency defines the lowest frequency your speaker/subwoofer is expected to handle. Setting this accurately (usually found in the speaker's specs) avoids distortion and ensures the EQ system doesnโ€™t boost frequencies that your speaker canโ€™t reproduce effectively.

๐Ÿ”น 3. Set Room EQ Target Gain to 0

How:
Adjust the Room EQ target function slider to 0.

๐Ÿ“Œ Why this matters:
This is the neutral baseline for the system to work from.

  • Move the slider left if the room has too much bass (typically small or enclosed rooms).

  • Move the slider right if the room has too little bass (large or open-plan rooms).
Setting it to 0 is a good starting point to allow the EQ system to assess naturally.

๐Ÿ”น 4. Tap "Begin" to Start Calibration

How:
Tap the "Begin" button to initiate the Auto Room EQ process.

๐Ÿ“Œ Why this matters:
This activates the systemโ€™s calibration mode, enabling the microphone on your phone or controller to start collecting sound data from the room. If you would like more accurate readings then use a Bluetooth enabled  Zen microphone for even more depth to your system.

๐Ÿ”น 5. Move Around the Room for 60 Seconds

How:
Walk around the listening area for 60 seconds as instructed by the app.

๐Ÿ“Œ Why this matters:
Sound reflects off furniture, walls, and other surfaces differently in various parts of the room. Moving around allows the system to collect acoustic data from multiple positions, improving the accuracy of the EQ adjustments for the whole room, not just one listening spot.

๐Ÿ”น 6. Review the Frequency Curves (Before & After)

How:
Once calibration is complete, the app will show you:

  • Original frequency response (Before)

  • Optimised frequency response (After)

๐Ÿ“Œ Why this matters:
This visual comparison confirms how the system improved the frequency balance โ€” smoothing out harsh peaks, boosting weak areas, and adjusting output to match your roomโ€™s unique audio characteristics.

โœ… Final Tips

  • Perform the process for each speaker in your setup individually.

  • Make sure the room is quiet during calibration for best accuracy.

  • You can re-run Room EQ at any time if the room layout or speaker placement changes.
