What makes the IO1 IPX6 Rated?

The IO1 has been carefully designed for IPX6 making it Ideal for outdoor applications.

On the Rear enclosure where the cables for the IO1 are fed into: power, inputs and a passive connection are fully sealed with the use of rubber gaskets throughout to ensure a water/dust tight enclosure and compression alumimium plate.

In practical terms, IPX6-rated IO1 is well-protected against water splashes, heavy rain, and water jets but are not designed to be fully submerged in water.

It's important to note that the IPX6 rating does not indicate protection against immersion or continuous exposure to water, so submerging an IPX6-rated device can still cause damage.

The IP (Ingress Protection) code is an international standard that defines the level of protection against various environmental conditions, including water and dust.

The "IP" is followed by two digits. The first digit refers to the level of protection against solid particles, while the second digit refers to the level of protection against liquids.

In the case of IPX6, the "X" indicates that there is no specific rating for solid particle protection, and the "6" indicates the level of protection against water.

Specifically, IPX6 means that the device or enclosure is "dust-tight" (no ingress of dust) and is protected against powerful water jets from any direction.

It can withstand water projected by a nozzle with a 12.5 mm diameter, at a pressure of 100 kPa, from a distance of approximately 3 meters towards the front of the IO1, for at least three minutes without water ingress that could harm the device's functionality.

NOTE: You must ensure you have read the instructions on how to fit the weather proof rear enclosure and this is correctly fitted.
