How to Set the Volume Limit Cap (For Hotels & Businesses)

If you are installing the LBT8 speaker in a commercial space, office, rental property, hospitality environment, or hotel guest bedroom, you may want to prevent excessive volume levels that could disturb neighbours, damage speakers, or create unwanted noise complaints.

The LBT8 includes both a physical hardware volume cap switch and dynamic in-app volume limiting control for maximum installation flexibility.

Physical Hardware Volume Cap Switch

1. Locate the Switch

Before permanently mounting the speaker into the ceiling, locate the switches positioned on the rear side of the active speaker enclosure.

2. Identify the Volume Cap Switch

Find the small physical slider labelled:

50% Volume Cap

By default, the speaker is configured to allow 100% maximum output volume.

3. Set the Hardware Limit

Slide the switch to the 50% position if you want to permanently restrict the speaker’s maximum amplifier output.

This is ideal for:

  • Hotels
  • Rental properties
  • Airbnb installations
  • Offices
  • Commercial spaces
  • Children's rooms
  • Shared living environments

4. Complete Installation

Secure the speaker into the ceiling using the dog-leg mounting screws.

Once enabled, the internal hardware limiter prevents the amplifier from exceeding 50% output power — even if the connected phone, tablet, or streaming device is turned up to maximum volume.

Dynamic Volume Limiting via the App

Forgot to change the physical switch before installation? No problem.

The LBT8 also supports dynamic software-based volume limiting directly through the app.

Using the app, installers or property managers can remotely adjust the maximum volume limit anywhere between:

  • 0% to 100%

This allows you to fine-tune the maximum permitted listening level without removing the speaker from the ceiling.

Benefits of Dynamic App Control

No Need to Remove the Speaker

Adjust volume limits after installation without accessing the rear hardware switch.

Fine-Tune Volume Levels

Instead of only selecting 50% or 100%, the app allows precise control across the full 0–100% range.

Ideal for Commercial Installations

Perfect for hotels, serviced apartments, restaurants, bars, offices, and rental properties where volume control policies may change over time.

Prevent Speaker Damage & Complaints

Helps protect the speaker system while reducing the risk of excessive noise levels.

EnvironmentSuggested Volume Limit
Hotel Bedrooms40–60%
Airbnb / Rentals50–70%
Restaurants / Cafés60–80%
Offices40–60%
Residential Homes80–100%

Summary

The LBT8 provides two convenient ways to control maximum volume output:

  • A physical 50% hardware volume cap switch
  • Dynamic in-app volume limiting from 0–100%

This gives installers and property owners complete flexibility to balance audio performance, speaker protection, and noise management both before and after installation.
